Sue Cullen, Appointed

A Registered Nurse by training, Ms. Cullen holds extensive senior management and leadership experience in Canada, the United States, and United Kingdom healthcare sectors. Ms. Cullen was appointed Assistant Deputy Minister, Operations for the Government of the Northwest Territories Department of Health and Social Services in April 2013 and in September 2015, was appointed as Interim Chief Executive Officer for Stanton Territorial Health Authority in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.

 

Prior to joining the Government of the Northwest Territories, Ms. Cullen was the Chief Executive Officer with the Hay River Health and Social Services Authority since May of 2010. She also acted as Interim Chief Executive Officer for the Beaufort Delta Health and Social Services Authority in 2012. Prior to joining the Hay River Authority she held the positions of Vice President Eastern Operations, Extendicare (Canada) Inc. based in Markham, Ontario, Regional Director of Operations, Extendicare Health Services Inc. in Minneapolis, Minnesota and Vice President, Chief Operating Officer Bethany Care Society in Calgary, Alberta. Her success has been built on strategy development, creating strong organizational relationships, leadership versatility and financial acumen.

 

Ms. Cullen holds experience in overseeing capital projects and redevelopment within the Ontario and Alberta healthcare markets through the successful participation in Ministry of Health RFP’s to increase long term care beds in both provinces. Additionally, she was actively involved in the growth strategy of the European division of Extendicare through development, merger and acquisitions initiatives in the United Kingdom.
